Easter Egg Hunt Done Differently

The Cairo Easter Egg Hunt has changed. Instead of meeting at the park register your home by 5 pm on April 10th. Cairo will hide eggs in your yard on April 11th, 2020 by 10 am.

Please be sure to register your kids with their names, ages, and addresses so we can enter them into our prize giveaway. We will have giveaways for girls and boys in each age division, 0 -3, 4-6, and 7-10.

Job Posting: Executive Director of the Cairo Housing Authority

Executive Director of the Cairo Housing Authority.  Duties include but are not limited to: The management of 18 units of rental assisted independent living apartments. Ability to understand and adhere to HUD government regulations and reporting.  Have  knowledge of federal, state and local  housing laws. Be responsible for all financial management including rent collection, payroll, insurance, budgets, grant documentation, audit preparation, filing of tax reports, accounts payable and receivable and inventory control.  This is a part-time position requiring 15-20 hours per week and available 24/7. A High school diploma is required however a college degree and/or previous housing experience is preferred. Must have strong computer skills, strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an outgoing, participative style and be motivated and able to multi-task.  Will require supervision over other staff and report monthly to the Board of Commissions with regular monthly meetings. Smorgasbord Suspended

After much deliberation and discussion, with the information given to us, it has been decided to suspend the smorgasbord. If we have it at a later date we will let everyone know. If you purchased tickets, we will refund you at Pathway Bank. Please do not take this as a reason to panic. We are being proactive and and following recommendations we have received. We will still take your donations at the bank. We have some raffle prizes that we will hold onto until we have an event. Whenever and whatever that will be, we don’t know yet. Please pass the word.

Annual Smorgasbord

Annual Smorgasbord Set For March 21st

The Cairo Volunteer Fire Department Annual Smorgasboard is scheduled for March 21st at the Cairo Community Center. The Firemen start serving at 4;30 pm and end at 8:00 pm.

Tickets are available at the door or pick them up at Cairo Pathway Bank, Cairo Pathway Insurance, Cairo Village Hall.

Ticket prices are $8 for Adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

The evening includes raffles and door prizes.

The CVFD is also accepting donations. We rely on donations from members of the community as a source of income. Your domination goes directly to provide services throughout Hall, Howard and Buffalo counties. It also provides for our training, equipment and emergency vehicles. All donations are tax deductible. Calling All Farmers

Last year Centura received at $25,000 America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Grant. This is primarily due to the overwhelming success of farmer nominations within the Centura School District! Centura is eligible to apply for this Grant again. If you nominated Centura last year please do it again! Please share with your friends, family, and neighbors and ask them to nominate Centura. It’s very easy to do. The greater the nominations the greater the chance of success. The grants this year are for $15,000! The deadline for nominations is April 1st! Register for Summer Youth Baseball and Softball

Register your child for summer youth baseball or softball. Registration is $45. Fee includes T-shirt and a hat or visor. Late registration fee is $55. Registration fee for Little Tikes, children ages 4 – 5, is $30.

Registration is due March 20th. Registrations are not accepted after March 23rd.

Participants are entered into a draft to decide the team they are on. Coaches notify players when draft is complete.

Return your forms to Bonnie at Centura’s Elementary Office or to the Village of Cairo Office.

Cairo Junk Jaunt Planning Meeting March 24th

Cairo is planning Junk Jaunt a little differently this year. Jaime Rathman and Christy Osburn are accepting Junk Jaunt vendor applications in the office. A group of dedicated volunteers are planning events and entertainment to coincide with the Nebraska Junk Jaunt event held September 25th through the 27th.

Vendor booth rentals support Christ Lutheran Church, Cairo Community Center, and the Cairo Ball Association.

Cairo Ducks Unlimited Banquet

Annual Banquet for the Loup Valley Chapter of Ducks Unlimited planned for March 14th at the Cairo Community Center. Doors will open at 5:30. Prime Rib dinner catered by Whitefoots beings at 6:30 pm. Participate in raffles and silent auction. Live auction by Wieck Auction to follow dinner. Cash Bar is provided by the Watering Hole. For more information contact Scott Sorensen.
