Brainstorming Cairo Style

The Cairo Steering Committee, led by chairman Anna Rathke, did some fantastic brainstorming on Monday night.

The committee focused on brainstorming in three categories:

  1. Main Street
  2. Programming
  3. Dream Community (money no object)

Some ideas for Main Street included: working with open storefronts, Dollar General, expand the use of the senior center, library, grocery store, medical, group office space, markers space, children’s museum and welcome signs.

Ideas for new and expanded programming included: senior programs, youth dance and gymnastics, preschool and early childhood, library, craft and book club, “I Can Camp”, tax prep, legion program, recycling and meal prep, and scouting program.

Dream Community ideas included: indoor pool, townhouses, assisted living, senior housing, nursing home, skate park, drive-in theater, pave ,road, shuttle to Dannebrog and Boelus, splash pad, community center, sport complex, more businesses, school improvements.

The committee will continue to meet to develop a strategic plan for feasibility and implementation of the visions. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend these meetings.
