On September 11th, Dick and Dorothy Heckman will have been married 50 years! Although they can’t be together on this day, it would be wonderful for them to hear from friends, family, and community. Cards and notes can be dropped off at the bank, or mailed to the address below—and if you can share a favorite memory or photo, even better!

Dorothy is living and being wonderfully cared for at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River, and has been enjoying her delightful and devoted visitors while Dick has been recovering. She loves hearing the piano, sitting on the patio, and looking at photos of her family. Dick was able to visit the bank, the Senior Center, the fire hall, and Dorothy on a trip back to Cairo a short few weeks after his first stroke this summer, and very much enjoyed the trip! He is currently working hard at recovering from a second stroke at the beginning of August. He is staying at a beautiful new rehabilitation facility near John’s house in Boulder, and is making great progress—although, if you know Dick, it’s never fast enough! Libby was able to spend two months in Colorado with the family before returning to California to start the new school year, and plans to be back to visit in October. Dick is grateful to everyone who has helped out with visiting Dorothy, keeping his yard in order, as well as picking up his church, bank, and fire hall duties. He misses everyone and his town, and hopes to be back to Nebraska soon.
