Village Board receives $981.67 from ACE

AceACE Board approves $150,000 to Nebraska Member Communities

The Village board was presented a check for $981.67 which represents the community’s share of the ACE revenue return for the Fiscal Year 2014-15. These funds can go towards any specific project in the community. This year the board chose to use this money toward park improvements.

ACE the Public Alliance for Community Energy gave this amount to Cairo from its share of $150,000 it paid to the 72 Nebraska ACE member communities. The ACE board of directors may return excess revenue beyond the cost of operating the organization to its member communities. The board approved the distribution at its board meeting earlier this year. Since forming in 1998 ACE has returned more than $1.4 million back to its Nebraska members. The funds are used in various ways to benefit each ACE member community. To date, ACE has returned $1673.98 to Cairo overall.

“ACE was formed with the mission to provide competition in the Nebraska Choice Gas program for the benefit of all customers,” said Beth Ackland, director of retail gas services for ACE. “Along with giving consumers a choice in natural gas suppliers, another benefit of ACE is the possible option each year of returning funds back to Nebraska communities. ACE has been a tremendous grass-roots success story for Nebraskans.”

The Choice Gas selection period is set to begin April 10 and run through April 23. Selections may be made online through April 23 using ACE’s Website (www.ACEenergy.org) or by phone at 800-454-4759. Selection forms will be mailed out to all eligible customers prior to the beginning of the selection period. More information about ACE and its role in the Nebraska Choice Gas program is available at www.ACEenergy.org.
