Brooklyn will bring homemade bread, granola bars, peanut butter chocolate chip muffins.

Lynn & Lori Reimers:  6 varieties of homemade dog treats, Lynn’s usual 3 varieties of homemade jerky PLUS he’s adding and trying out a HOT variety, homemade from scratch blueberry and strawberry and chocolate chip muffins, boutique scarves, homemade bath saltz and other misc. crafts.

Mike Stutzman:  potatoes, onions, cucumbers, perhaps beets and green beans.

Dorothy Jarzynka:  crocheted pillow cases, cookies, breads.

Brenda & Kathy:  frozen runzas, snickerdoodles, strawberry-lemon cake, black bean & mango salsa, banana bread, cinnamon rolls, rice krispie bars, carmel corn, lettuce, kale, radishes, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage and Saturday breakfast burritos.

Cairo Community Foundation Dinner and Golf Tournament

Mark your Calendars and get sign up for the Cairo Community Foundation Golf Tournament, July 18th at Centura Hills.

Not a golf not a problem.  Come out and enjoy a steak and/or lobster dinner and meet the celebrities.

Meal reservations are $49.95 per person.  Please indicate steak or lobster when you contact Centura Hills for a reservation.

1-5 and 6:30 -9 Monday thru Thursday 1-7 Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Float night is Thursday nights.

Any flotation device that is not allowed during regular pool hours can be brought that night.


A Family Pass is $85 Single Pass is $50 Daily admission is $3 Evenings $2

Private swimming lessons can be set up by calling the pool at 308-485-4790

Private Parties

Private pool parties are $60 per hour.  They can be before the pool opens or between the 6 and 6 hour weekdays.  The pool can also accommodate parties after closing hours on the weekends.

Farmer’s Market This Friday

farmers market - lettuce, kale, brussel sprouts, lkaleThe Farmer’s Market opens again this Friday at 4:30 and again on Saturday morning at 8:30 am.

This week Lynn & Lori Reimers will offer jerky, dog treats, scarves, ornaments & crafts & baked goodies.

Brenda and Kathy Baasch will offer kale, lettuce, radishes, onions, broccoli, brussel sprouts, chango bars, snickerdoodles, frozen runzas, lemon/strawberry cake, rice krispie bars, cinnamon rolls, banana bread, caramel corn, cherry braids and breakfast burritos on Sunday.

CornStalk Parade and Grand Marshal Announcement

Maxine Roberts Maxine Roberts chosen as Grand Marshal for Cairo CornStalk Parade

Maxine Roberts will be the Grand Marshal for this year’s Cairo CornStalk parade. Maxine was born in Abbott Nebraska to Richard and Linda Spiehs. She has lived in the Cairo area all of her life. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High but went to school in Cairo. She then attended the Grand Island Business College and worked at the ordinance plant as a secretary. She married Wayne Sorensen on May 5, 1946 and lived in Cairo. Wayne & Maxine had two children Joyce Heger and Gordy Sorensen. Wayne passed away in 1970 and at that time Maxine went back to work at the Nebraska Veterans Home. She married Lavern Roberts on June 19, 1987 and they made their home in Cairo. Laverne has two sons Jack Roberts and Ray Roberts. Maxine has six grandchildren, five step grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Maxine is an active member of the Cairo United Methodist church where she is a member of the United Methodist Women’s group. She was also a member of Dorothy Chapter #322, Order of Eastern Star where she was a past worthy matron. She enjoys playing bridge and has also enjoyed quilting. She also enjoyed dancing for many years.

When asked “Why do you like living in Cairo?” Her response was, “I’ve lived in Cairo most of my life and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. People are so friendly and caring.”
